Persian Rugs Offer Intricate Patterns For Your Home Decor

Oriental rugs have been woven almost since 5th century B.C. The first of these were woven in Egypt, and also in Asia. They were made by highly skilled weavers. Persian rugs are exquisite, priceless and highly prized home decor. They are very popular for their elegance and beauty. Persian rugs are hand woven by using a special technique.

Most of the Persian rugs are being woven over the centuries in the present day Iran, which went by the name Persia in the earlier days. The material used for these exquisite hand woven carpets could be wool, cotton or silk. There have been several centers of Persian rug production in Iran over the years. They are Tabriz, Kashan, Herat and Kerman.

The blue and red symmetrical pattern of the design that rests atop an ivory background is what sets Tabitz rugs apart. Woven carpets that come from a mythical historical era have pictorial designs. These carpets are judged based on the measurement of knots per square inch. This varies from 75 knots per square inch to 110 knots. These carpets are made from either silk or cotton, with the silk being more expensive and more of a treasure.

Kashan is famous for its lovely silk carpets.They constitute of a lone medallion at the center and floral patterns,wines,flower stems and leafs woven as designs.The pattern depicting animals can also be found on some of these carpets.Kashan carpets are some of the most costly around the globe. Old Kashan carpets tend to be of a superior quality.The available sizes are 4x6 and 8x6.

Floral designs and patterns and intricate wines are woven into the fabric of Herat rugs. The colors they are crafted with are charming Persian carpets are all woven by hand using the same single knot technique. Nomadic tribes in Iran are the weavers of Baluch rugs. These rugs are created using rich colors such as red, ivory, and navy blue, and have been in creation for over 2500 years.

Shiraz rugs are made in Shiraz in central Iran and hare hand knotted and have geometric designs, animals or plants as designs. Red is the predominant color of these carpets. Wiss rugs are woven by tribes in the village of Wiss in Iran. Floral designs, wines, foliage and elements of garden are their primary designs.
