Lamino Armchairs - Classic Swedish Style

by Richard Guilfoyle

The Lamino armchair is a wonder of Modern Swedish design. Its simple, elegant, curvaceous lines delight the eye and comfort the back. It was designed in 1956 by Yngve Ekstrom as part of the Modernist furniture movement. In 1999 it was voted "The Best Swedish Furniture Design of the Century" (Den Basta Svenska Mobler Design) and more recently it won the exclusive and highly sought-after I.M.M. Cologne 2003 award for best design.

The Lamino is a beautiful wooden chair and ottoman set that is adorned with the softest sheepskin available in a myriad of colors (grey, brown, white, sand, or black). The wooden arms and legs of the chairs are beautifully oiled. This set provides the utmost comfort with a touch of elegance.

You can select from several different woods, including oiled beech, cherry wood, walnut, oak, oak/teak, or oak. There are also options to select lacquered wood in oak, cherry wood, or walnut. Finally, you may select stained, black beech. The many options offered make this chair especially versatile for any decor and any room of your home.

High quality leather seating incurs an extra cost but may well be worth it. An extensive array of options like incredibly supple leather and high quality fabrics such as Tonus, Canyon, Tonica, Flora, Divina and Hallingdal are available. Special coverings, woods and patterns may also catch the potential buyer's eye. These option should make it possible to get the exact seating a buyer desires.

The modern Swedish style, such as that evidenced by the Lamino chair, has become particularly popular in recent years. This style is characterized by pale woods and fabrics, straight lines and simple, clean curves, and wholesome, natural woods and fabrics. This style is useful to achieve a clean, simple, streamlined look in your interior spaces. Hardwood floors, sheer pale curtains, uncluttered spaces, and subtle golds and blues will truly highlight the look of the Lamino chair.

Whether you have chosen modern Swedish as your decor motif and are looking to add the perfect chair to your collection of modern Swedish furniture (mobler), or you are simply looking for an elegant centerpiece for your already existing decor, the Lamino chair is the perfect choice. You can check out various wood and fabric combinations at a store near you, or look online for some high-resolution photos.
